raising four kids on the corporate cow ranch that's always been my home
PV 9/9/21
The ranch she grows. That sheepherder’s monument in the distance in the photo — built once upon a time by a sheepherder to landmark a good watering hole in the area — sits squarely in the middle of what became, in August, the PV’s fifth cow camp. At about 40,000 acres of well-cared-for grass, the new acquisition is part of the solution to the drought the main ranch is experiencing right now. It also represents a bigger PV cowherd in the near future. Beau and I assumed we’d all call it the Coffee Place, after the family that owned it for a long time. But 3-year-old Muggins says we’ll call it Donut Camp… because coffee and donuts just go together. That much we can’t argue.
