Their first movie in the theatre

Do you remember the first movie you saw in the theatre?

For me, it was “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.”  For my husband, it was “The Fox and the Hound.”

Last night we took the kids to Forsyth to watch “The Peanuts Movie” at the Roxie Theatre, which is a perfect little one-screen small-town theatre experience.  We met Grandma there, and my sister and niece and nephew.  We all got popcorn and Dr Pepper.  We endured the noisy previews.  And the kids did great through the whole show.

As for the movie, we were impressed.  It was appropriate for a G audience, it was very true to the original “Peanuts” material, and in the end Charlie Brown gets to talk to the little red-haired girl.  I think it was a special treat for our country kids.  And I hope that someday they’ll remember with fondness the first movie they saw in the theatre.
